Name: Grace Newsome
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Preferred PB: Amandla Stenberg
Grace Newsome was born into a tight-knit, loving, and religious family in Brookline, Massachusetts. A shy girl, Grace had two categories of friends: her siblings and cousins, and those of the imaginary variety. It became apparent early on that the girl was incredibly gifted and intelligent, and so Grace's parents became concerned when she didn't seem to outgrow her invisible playmates.
The family consulted with child psychologists, therapists, even religious officials, but Grace maintained these friends were as real to her as flesh and bone. Tired of being the source of her parents' anguish, however, she began to keep it to herself. As she grew older, the figures she encountered came to take on new variety and character.
After some independent research took her from the neighborhood library to an occult bookstore in Boston, Grace began to suspect that the "imaginary" people were actually apparitions.
College was more difficult than high school. It required more concentration, for one, something that Grace was in short supply of. Distractions crossed her path several times a day. She never really grew close to anyone, fearing they would realize there was something "off" about her. Eventually, she dropped out after her first year.
Grace's family is affluent, and tell themselves that her issues stem from severe social anxiety. They pay her rent on her tiny Boston sublet with this understanding. Grace supplements this with part-time odd jobs.
Grace's motivation is to learn more about her abilities, whether communication with the ghosts is possible, and how to harness it to the extent of getting back into a "normal" life. She is a sweet, caring person and when she feels comfortable, her sense of humor and intelligence really shine through.
